Hi,

Iam a speechtherapist. I saw your post and thought I'd pass on some information to you before yourself diagnose your child with autism.

The signs of autism include:

Poor social behaviors
Repetitive behaviors like rocking, flapping hands, etc
Echolalia repetitions of words phrases they here or other non verbal sounds
Inappropriate behaviors
Poor language skills
They may be unable to follow directions, rules, etc

If you feel your child displays these behaviors, you must visit a psychologist who will be able to give you the diagnosis of autism. If there is autism then you visit a speech language pathologist, do a speech and language assessment, figure out the areas of language that are affected and start an intervention programme immediately. There are also other professionals like an ABA therapist, ot who provide their services in the areas that are affected in the child.
