On a scientific perspective, yes humans are just another species of animals.

And then there is the side that matters. :P

What separates us (or should I say most of us) are quite a few factors based around one organ. The human brain.

1. The concept of positive and negative which i guess you can classify as a form of moral.

2. The effect and control level of emotions and instinct on our actions.

Some may say our thumb separates us from animals. But I personally think it's just credit to our development as a species and not a part of the definition of the species.
