In some Bibles its spelled Fillistines with an F so I believe that its a name....btw it also means money grabbers....many stories refer to them as local tribes like the story of samson who supposedly killed a 1000 of them with the jaw bone of a donkey and 500 or 600 " i forgot how many" with his bare hands....i believe that happened before 1200bc
