I think many on this forum exaggerate salaries. 35k for 8 years experience is a pretty good offer. Not great but perfectly acceptable dependant on your lifestyle. I am sorry guys but 50-70k for somebody with 8 years in engineering is way off. You’re not painting a accurate picture at all. May be somebody senior in investment banking or oil/gas can get in that range. May be if you’re in engineering at very senior/director level again you will be looking at 60-70+.

if you want a 2bed place you can probably find something decent in the region of 7-8k per month (you can get a 3 bed apartment for 10k). No school fees, add another 2k for a car. another 1k for all utilities etc.. so you’re talking 10-12k.

So that leaves around 23-25 for your living expenses, again you could potential make some decent savings dependant on your lifestyle.

It’s a decent offer, all depends on the job itself and what your reason for coming out are.

Hope this helps.
