As I don't know exactly where you'll be located it's hard to comment. But if you are living in or on the outskirts of Doha proper and commuting to say Dukhan or Al Khor for work you'll mostly be going against the traffic, but still be fairly mobile within Doha proper (again, given the traffic). Qatar is a VERY small community compared with other GCC countries. If you and your wife are looking for a more ongoing support system, you'd want to be located closer to Doha rather than further out.
That said, if you are able to get accomodation within your employer's "circle" - i.e. RasGas in Dukhan your wife will find it easier to find a social circle and social activities.
My suggestion, ask if there is someone your wife can contact (someone's wife who is here and established) at QatarGas so she can ask questions that are more specific for you and the missus.
