Mmmmm I've been an expat in other Gulf country and didn't hear this nonsense there!!! We were valued for our experience and knowledge and were not described as 'guests' (a term which makes my skin crawl). We just happened to work there and got on with it without feeling as if we were skating on thin ice!!!!
