Dont waste your time with the police - that is just going to make you MORE frustrated. Just pity them their inadequcy as decent human beings. The fact that they roared off after throwing coins at your car speaks volumes about them. Dont compromise yourself by coming down to their KG status - just laugh at them - if possible laugh in their face and show them the respect they just showed you!!
