I haven't crossed over a group yet. Friday mornings is all Harleys. If you cruise around on Friday morning just have the guts to join in with a group and say, "Hi". That is the only thing I can say. I am leaving and through advertising my cycle just found a dual sport group. Wish I had known they went out to the desert 2 years ago.....
R6 doesn't go off-road does it?
The other outlet is Losail. On their website, they have track days open to the public. I've never pursued it, but see if you can get on there. You can also become a track marshal through their website. I did do that and it was super cool. Didn't meet any riders, though.
