Al Sadd had its pluses and minuses. There are a few small supermarkets and access to larger hypermarkets is quite close by. West Bay (Diplomatic Area) is generally higher priced. Downsides to Al Sadd is the traffic but you should be able to navigate from Al Sadd to West Bay inside of 30 minutes on most days but you can't count on it (should take 20 or less usually but traffic dictates).

Upside to Al Sadd area is that you have several reasonable (read edible) restaurants and access to smaller grocery stores without needing a car. You will need a car to get to the Diplomatic area/
