I know- and I understand your situation- because I live here for many years.and I don't need maid myself either- I do things on my own - my parents in law have her only to assist with food preparation and cleaning because they are not young and require assistance.
You are in a different country- different rules.if you can manage without her- great!!!
Regards salary- you are right- because I have spoken to them - and I know that agencies back home promise different salary- but in doha salary for them is 200$ in UAE around 400$ and depends what family they get- some are treated like family members, some of them are forced to work day and night without any minute for themselves. Regards other things like tv , phone- again depends on family. My parents in law housemaid- she has tv with satellite in her room, laptop with Internet connection, always on the phone with family and goes out to parks and malls - and as I know their contract states they can start work 7 am and by 9 pm they are free- and she has plenty of time in between as well!!!!!
So if the housemaid doesn't want to stay- as per contract she has to pay for her ticket and reimburse any other expenses . If the employer wants to terminate the contract- they must pay for ticket and any other expenses.
Qatar has their own rules- it's too many complications to get into the country- same applies when somebody wants to leave.
