Well I have been here 18 mths and have been looking out for something like this for a long time. The sad part is there isn't, because 2 places that opened up to do what you want to do closed down in 2009. One is 'souq waqif art center', which no one knows why they closed down and the other place exists online but no details about it in Directory- 'House of Art'. Now, recently I have joined Doha mums which is an amazing group and if ur a mum, you can search for it and join even before you get here. Its full of advice for newcomers. Thru that I met 2 lovely ladies who are artists themselves, and because I paint I wanted some inspiration so we got together and went to an art exhibition. Now, most women here do business from home. This lady had a studio in her house where she was painting and displaying her work and selling it. You might want to look at that rather then a 'seperate place to rent'.
1. Rent is very costly
2. You need a Qatari sponsor to open a business here
3. Do a survey and market research and see if its worth the hassle of all the documentations and paperwork you will go thru. Im not trying to discourage you, please do your research too, but I was once interested in opening a studio where people could just come and paint, offer classes, rent out stuff. It was tedious to try and find out what I required to do to set it up, so I gave up. Best of luck to you, please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions and I hope I have given you useful info if not tips;-))
