There have been times for example when the so called "spells" have actually poisoned and/or killed the "bewitched" which is when the culprits are executed. This bit of info doesn't always come out in the news for various reasons namely the people involved not wanting the news to be passed on for the fear of further repercussions, social stigmas,etc. Take for example the famed Lebanese soothsayer who though was prosecuted was NOT executed as he's actions never actually harmed anyone. So whilst I'm not saying the execution was completely right I do believe that unless all the facts are revealed one can never know.
