I am the photographer for a magazine here in Qatar. And I use, and am happy to recommend Sony. But to be honest, until you know what you want to do with your camera it's difficult to choose between brands. These days they are all excellent, and any DSLR you buy is going to do the job well for you.

The camera is only half the story. Once you start buying lenses and accessories for the brand you have chosen, it normally means that you are committed to that brand for life as you will want to use your lenses and accessories with the next camera body you buy.

I advise you to pop into Carrefor and buy a photography magazine to get a feel for what your options are before shelling out your hard earned cash.
