Whilst arguing, which is not the same as respectful debating, is prohibited in Islam sadly its a vice many of us carry.

Parents:May Allah forgive me. I regret every argument I ever had with them...there were many and I truly repent for them all. Thankfully with moving here we no longer argue at all since we talk so little!

Teachers: A non Muslim teacher and I once got into a heated debate cos he stated Muslim men to be uncivilized due to them taking other wives. I wasn't myself much of a Muslimah back then but I managed to make him take back what he said!

Boss: I memo arguing with my boss at his mistreatment of his wife in front of the staff. Told him he had no right to make her look so small in the eyes of other's though he did so only when he really lost his temper. Thank God he didn't fire me but told me that I was just a "brat" and to mind my own beeswax..oh but Alhamdullilah he did take my advice and later thanked me for it too!!

Today I suppose the one person I argue most with is my sister but I like to believe its our constant lil bickers that make us all the more closer!

Just a reminder to us : The Prophet once said "The strong man is not the good wrestler; the strong man is the one who controls himself when he is angry. (Bukhari & Muslim)

so when ever you find yourself in an argumentive mode take a step back, breath deeply, and be civil.Debate your point without getting angry and abusive, and take care not to fall into arrogance and falsehood just to prove your point and save your ego.
