1. Right now we have two telecom operators: Vodafone and Qtel. Check the plans in their sites from prepaid to monthly charges or post paid services to see the one that would fit your needs.
2. Internet Speed - QTEL is the sole provider of internet via landline and details are on the site (www.qtel.com.qa). ALthough depending on the location of the housing it will be slower.
3. Banking - most of the banks allow for monthly transfer via online services without much hassle. The last time I sent some money to the US it cost me around 5 US$ for 4000$. However do not take this for granted since each bank has it own rules.
4. Car - cars depreciate here on a 20% annually. So it seems like your bet for a used car is the right path. A brand new Fortuner could be around >30 KUS$
5. Apartment or home (FULLY FURNISHED) - with 10 K you could get a nice stand alone Villa or a villa in a "well located" compound wiht ease of acces to transportation and shopping. Say you go with 8000 you might be able to find some choices of apt in the city and also in the suburbs (out of the city) you could be even be able to find something below 8 K but it will be your choice.
