Have dragged the kid or complained to the parent (it was in my neighbourhood and I knew where he lived). In one instance, I asked an older boy (I knew his father, the boy was about 14 years old) to ask the mother of the bothersome child (about 11 or 12) to ask her to tell the boy to stop what he was doing - harrassing me. The 14 year old was most attentive and polite and said he would assist me in this. I turned my back and walked back to my villa - heard a quick "thwack" - the older boy had cuffed the younger about the ears. No problems after that. Both boys were locals. The older boy's father was retired from the police (I had met him before) - and the policeman's family was very much better educated than the younger one's.
