everything that happens is decreed by God..be it good or bad. People in general are not perfect..we are prone to faults hence to expect perfection in a spouse is folly.
That said its the level of "imperfection" that one can tolerate in a spouse that makes him/her perfect for another.
And given the rise in divorces or people choosing to remain unmarried or like MBK pointed out the permissibility for a Muslim man to marry four women its hard to believe that in this life God has chosen just one person as a perfect spouse to another.
IMO we have to wait for eternal paradise for that perfect spouse but meanwhile make do with the one who's good traits surpasses his/her faulty side!
