Under the Environmental Sciences Category(1 of 17):

One school won the Best of Category Prize - S Korea ($5k)

Two schools won First Award prize - S Korea and US ($3k)

Four schools won Second Award prize - US, Canada, Argentina ($1.5k)

Six schools won Third Award prize - US, Malaysia & Pakistan ($1k)

Eight schools won Forth Award prize - US, S Korea, China ($500)

So the reality of the story is that there are multiple winners in each Award group - 5 in total - 21 recipients(15 of which were from the US) of prizes in this one category, of which the Pakistan school came somewhere between 8th at best and 13th at worst, being placed in in the 4th tier of prizes(not 3rd) - not forgeting that there is one prize above First Award (ie the Best of Category Prize)

Remember this is only within one category of 17.

Sorry to burst everyones bubble - Still, well done girls. But a media twisted story.
