I have taken many courses of medication and still have it.

Like many people said before, some diet and life style modifications might help. Here is what works for me:

1. Don't sleep right after you eat. Allow at least 2 hours of rest before you sleep.

2. Avoid afternoon nap.

3. Avoid eating rice, pasta, pizza, bread and any food that is high in carbohydrates after 2PM.

4. Avoid eating partially cooked onions. And in general avoid eating onions all together immediately before bed time.

5. Avoid spicy foods

6. Avoid sour foods after 2PM, especially foods made with tomato based sauce.

7. Try to eat smaller, more frequent meals with small snacks in between.

8. Nearly ripe (slightly green) bananas seem to help me reduce my stomach acid levels. I don't know why, but they work as well as taking 2 tablets of Maalox if not even better, and they are obviously safer!

9. VERY IMPORTANT: stay warm! Never set your AC below 23C in the summer and wear warm clothes and use heaters in the winter. Following this has GREATLY reduced my suffering!

10. Get enough sleep! I always have increased acid levels when I don't get enough sleep.

Good luck and get well!
