One of the reasons the US is no longer number 1 in several industries is that the wages and benefits for employees are very high. We just can't compete with sweatshop countries. Hmm, I guess that's why everyone wants to come there. As for education, the top tier is still the best in the world. Overall, averages have fallen. We do educate everyone for free and that takes a toll. There are some school districts that have students who speak 130 languages. It's a challenge.
