If the laws obligates parents looking after their kids, prohibiting child labor, and making educating kids mandatory on parents then its only fitting to do the reverse too! Personally as a Muslima I see it as obligatory cos in Islam second to worshiping our Lord is being dutiful to our parents, but not everyone will see it this way and hence the law may very well have to be enforced to ensure the elderly get their rights.
