As I said, a smile and being friendly is not "going out of your way, or beyond expectations", it is expected in the service industry. Why do you people always mention "I smile at them and they smile back"???? I pay for a product, not a smile.
Concentrate on your products and the knowledge of those, instead of exercising your facial muscles.
If you do that, you might even GET a few more smiles.
