Try to take photos of the accident scene. Later if you see you have been deceived you can apply to court.
Normally the police report should include a drawing of the incident etc. So check it.
And also, if you have special people in your office who can help you out in such situations, immediately call them after the accident. Better to have such people talk to the police. Otherwise they write and decide what they want.
