When I say "external" influence I do not refer to any nationality. I know of parents within my own community who complain how their kids are getting "influenced" by either TV, or "friends" or how they pick up wrong "behavioural" patterns.
If only parents spend quality time with their kids, monitor them properly, these "external" influences can be negated. But it's hard work, and some of them are not willing to do it.
