You are quite right Xena, it's one and the same...my statement was misleading. I should have clarified that she didn't have the upper respiratory tract cat flu like symptoms...runny nose, fever and loss of appetite (which she obviously had at some point)She did have the conjunctiveitis caused by the herpes virus with secondary bacterial infection which caused the corneal ulcers....oh and severe dehydration and unwillingness to drink. Anyway, you are correct in saying she was highly contagious and should not go to the shelter.
