^no problem for guys. all their equipment are still there. but for ladies, this thing has become a total ripoff. the area is so small (i think i developed claustrophobia because of this) and the equipment is sorely inadequate. yesterday, i have to wait for an hour to get on a treadmill. time is money and i don't like wasting it. there is also a limit of 20 minutes to use the treadmills on the peak hours (4-8pm), which is usually the only time i have for a workout. almost all exercise machines in the men's area cannot be found in the ladies' area so substituting my cardio with other types of exercise is not a very good alternative either. they said we have to wait around 6 months to one year for them to make the necessary changes, which i think is too long a time for them to adjust.
the classes are now very limited and it seems like they stereotyped specific classes for both sexes. all the classes i like are now offered for men only.
i understand that they have no choice but enforce this. the least they could have done though is offer refunds or some other way to compensate those affected. tough luck that i'm only halfway through my annual contract or else i would have cancelled my membership. i went there after work this afternoon and the ladies area is still full as usual (while the men's is almost empty) and went home instead.
mover, forget about your uk membership and look for better alternatives instead. sweating it out at corniche despite the afternoon heat is increasingly looking very attractive for me.
