Could you live well on that at home? Will you be resident or non-resident in Canada? If resident, you'll still be paying taxes (and reaping none of the benefits like healthcare up to 6 months after you return to Canada).

It is not advisable to bring a Canadian spec vehicle to this climate, the seals and belts will dry out quickly and the AC is not up to the environment. Also, if it is older than 5 years, it will not be allowed in the country. Further, if it has a computer aided system, be aware that the diagnostic equipment here may not work on a North American vehicle.

Live well? Do you dine out often, take lots of holidays, need the latest fashions, want a membership to a hotel/beach club? It all adds up, very quickly. Food is more expensive here as well. Will you be paying your own utilities - AC costs can be expensive if you're cooling the entire house all the time.

As for schools, they too can be expensive when the time comes (and hard to find a place for a child - some people start more than a year in advance of their need for a place).
