Hello friend, Welcome to QL! I can understand your frustration and incredulity. Professionalism is relative. If you have traveled the world and worked in different places you will understand what I mean. It also depends a lot on historical and cultural nuances.
That said; don't ever feel ashamed or apologetic about your nationality. What you are today is because of the country/region you were born in.
It is a known fact that central and west Asian regions have a unique way of profiling job offers according to nationality. It serves some purpose and advantages for the the region but it surely has its drawbacks in the way it is implemented.
For all its foibles, one must also come to terms with the fact that Qatar is a rapidly evolving nation. Like other countries of the region, it is relatively young in terms of development, industrialization and globalization. All credit to the country's rulers and bureaucracy for establishing a chart topping GDP, robust hydrocarbon infrastructure, providing an enhanced quality of life for many (if not all) and making its presence felt on the global stage.
It will be remiss to not mention that the realization of their vision was and is being made possible only because of the sweat/blood and toil of immigrant workers and professionals.
As you very rightly mention, there are innumerable instances of mismanagement, pettiness and unethical practices. But you and I and every individual can make a difference no matter how small. I share your pain and frustrations so don't consider this reply as me being preachy. We all have short lives and our primary goal should be to be happy individuals with happy families, who have seen as much of God's wonderful world as possible.
Whenever you are down, just look up to the clear blue skies or gaze into the vast expanse of the sea and desert. Nature has its way of providing solace. It is beautiful and it is profound.
