I think people are too used to expecting respect for everything. Nobody should automatically get respect, respect is earned. Frankly, while I do respect some Qatari's and some aspects of the culture, there are a great deal of things that I don't agree with or respect, and you can't make me respect them. To me respecting something means that you agree with it and have found something honourable or worthy of respect in it. Since I can't agree with much of the cultural things here the more proper term is I accept that it's not my place to change it and I tolerate it and adjust my life to suit it cause I'm in the minority.
