To my understanding,... jihad doesn't necessarily means a holy war defending Islam. The first and foremost jihad that are required to all muslims is the jihad against our desires of all forbidden and sinful acts within the islamic teachings. Jihad should start within ourselves cleansing and purifying our hearts against evils is another form of jihad. Allah best knows.
