someone really needs to confirm the source............. this seems like overkill, and whilst I think it would be great to fine the idiots that commit crimes on the road, I really wonder if the locals are actually going to get punished for doing something wrong or whether due to their connections they'll get off with a slap on the wrist and some poor indian driver will find himself going to jail because he can't afford the fine!

I think it's ludicrous, because Qatar should clean it's own house first. Most expats (at least ones from the EU or US and similar) actually LEARN how to drive and are for the most part respectful. Others, whilst maybe not enforced to learn properly due to poor quality testing in their home countries...........are terrified here of doing something wrong and are also for the most part respectful drivers. The only ones seemingly "immune" to this are the gulf nationals, who for some reason behave as though the roads belong to them.

So if this report is actually 'real', why haven't they put a clause for child seats? Why are kids allowed to crawl all over and around the seats of the car whilst the driver or parent is driving?

It's a joke............. if they have a to pass a "law" then it should properly thought through. This one screams of incompetance.
