Your comment / question is 50% right & 50% not :) As per my vision, I see ppl obsessed with something that is not their own. English is not Pakistan's language but because it is an International language, ppl love to learn it so that they can at least communicate with non-Urdu speakers. Now whoever converses in it very well, most of the time, gets a sense of pride that they know a language in which a large number of ppl do not excel. This gives them inner satisfaction & happiness :) We might look at it this way too that since British ruled in the sub-continent for a good considerable time, so in my opinion, this might have effected Pakistanis psychologically somewhere even though it is only 1% out of 100 & that's why they want to excel in something which is foreign & Alhamdulillah an exceedingly large number of ppl are learning this language to communicate well with foreigners, to understand them & to not let the nation down only because of some foreign language :)
