As a single person Rebecca - it may be difficult for you to adopt while actually residing in Qatar. By that I mean the Qatari authorities may refuse to issue a visa/residency permit for the child.

I know of one person in UAE who was also single, had adopted a child before coming to the UAE and she had to move mountains to get the authorities to recognize/understand that this was "her" child.
