I guess I'm not reading you anymore. Black humour is not lost on Arabs, or muslims in general. Even in the Qur'an... "Ash-Shir ul Baliyy Yadhak"... The worst evil is that which makes you laugh. Indeed it has been a running theme of much of modern "Islamic" art cinema, comedy derived from economic trouble and the sometimes ridiculous solutions and justifications (like Rashid who explains to his family the virtues of being closer to a once most noble nomadic Arab life), such a profound statement, Wedad is quite the artist. Let's remember, Bedouins used to belittle and mock sedentary Arabs and their ways of life through poetry. Today "Bedou" is synonymous with "primitive". Changing times and wildly changing values that no one has time or care to think about. That is why a healthy nation and healthy society needs entertainment like this, to see and think about things they usually wouldn't or are perhaps too distracted by consumerism to pay attention to. Is there a paper that will write an article as a response to the PC brigade? I doubt it. But that is the running theme in these parts, the regressive ultra-conservatives raise a ruckus over anything, the progressive liberals shut up and "avoid trouble". Lame.
