Amoud,,,is that the reason why I was asked yesterday evening if am a Muslim or not?

I was in one shopping mall yesterday evening, and there are these guys sitting nearby door with coupons on their table, I went and asked them to gave me some coupon in return of some amount, am aware that is for charity,,,,but they were asking me if am a Muslim or not? Will they refused if I say NO? :0
