Dubai went through similar birthing pains. They used to redraw the entire layout of major traffic arteries on a yearly basis. One thing I didn't see them do is repeat the same damn mistakes twice (or more) like they do here. Doha follows British standards from the 50's which make absolutely no sense and are both antiquated and utterly disregard the density of traffic. I've heard Bahrain has demolished most of its' roundabouts and replaced them with signal lights. As for flyovers, wholly agreed, however you know this will require major demolishing of existing buildings, widening roads, and that's gonna be a little harder on the C & D rings. Their money, their loss, but a hell we all have to share.
Furthermore AD is a city you can never get lost in, unless you're mentally challenged. All the streets are clearly numbered and follow a logical system, what about here, how would you order a cab to pick you up or a food delivery. Without using nearby landmarks, no way Jose. I remember the ridiculous parking in AD, but they could easily solve all their woes with a few strategically placed multi-story parking garages. Doha has a simple solution, well there's always a sandpit next to a parking lot so go ahead, make yourself at home! Puncture a few tires, scrape your tranny and underbody. No bigie, you should have bought an SUV anyways! When I first got here, all the sidewalls and makeshift barriers made it seem like a bloody warzone.
