Many people come here to work and don't have what they would call 'friends' here. I have colleagues at work but sometimes it's nice to get away from anything to do with the workplace. Anyway, they maybe have family here and want to spend their time off with their own family. For many people the bar is the best place to relax, meet people, and have a little conversation. It's not just about getting a drink. I don't want to sit in my hotel room all evening and drink by myself. It is the culture in many parts of the world to mix drinking with relaxation, friendliness and sociability.
