There are apps available in Cydia (assuming you have a jailbroken phone) like "xGPS" that allows you to download and keep a portion of the map on the phone. So you have at least a map ! Navigation without a valid data plan is a whole another story. Wonder how the new TomTom software works, whether it stores the map locally or not.
