I had an opportunity to be in a large crowd of local ladies and we were all queuing up for the door. I was very interested to see that it was NOT a matter of locals being "polite" to each other and discriminating against "outsiders." There was just as much pushing and jostling and queue-jumping among the locals. My conclusion would be that it is not considered rude or impolite to do these things in this society. So whatever you do, don't take it personally or allow it to put a chip on your shoulder. Just accept it for what it is - a different way of doing things.
