wacky_baby said MagicDragon...how can spitting, burping, flashing, stinking, stupidity...be a part of a culture???? these kind of behaviors only shows that a person has no manners and is highly insensitive of other people around him."

No, what MD said is true. Some of the behaviours Westerners consider rude are the norm or the acceptable thing to do eg. slurping and burping at the dinner table - China - shows your hosts that you are deeply appreciative of the feast he has given you, etc.etc.

So really, the key is respect other people and be flexible / adaptable. Doesn't mean you have to turn out like them, you can keep your own culture and your own sense of what you think is right / good manners but leave others to live the way they choose to.

I just dislike people who think that their way is the only right way, whether it be religious people or not. This is called pride and there is such a thing as spiritual pride as well.

There is a difference between being self confident and being arrogant. It happens even to nice people. Problem is the lack of self-awareness, basically egocentricity.

Ooops! Lunch break over! Ta!
