- A contradiction. If it's possible to be happy single, then it can go on forever - until you meet someone who's (or potentially) worth your time and efforts. If you don't, you just don't bother.

So in other words, just "accepting" the single status but still waiting for a star to fall, thinking that will complete the picture.
