but we should not just limit this issue of obesity to women.
Every place has its fat people and fit people. But some places have far more fat people than others. For example, the state of my birth in the U.S. - Missouri - has the highest rate of gross obesity of all states in the U.S. So, the simple fact that there are fat people in all places does not nullify the fact that some places are far fatter than others.
And it just so happens that western countries have far more fat people than Eastern countries. This is obvious to anyone who travels a bit on both sides. I mentioned my observation of Australia, mostly for the sake of Popcorngirl, whose fierce determination to assert her superiority over the east in all aspects deserved some merit. So I did want to add that yes, Australians also excel over easterners at being fat and ugly. This has mainly to do with superior diet, eating, and health habits of Asians. I witnessed the rapid growth of beer bellies on many a college girl in my years in American university, which does not occur with near the frequency nor to this extreme among Asians, even those who do not drink.
And, if you think that insulting observations of Qatar or Gulf women will provide a counterexample to what I am asserting here, you should know that "the East" - and even just the Muslim part of the East, is far bigger than the Gulf or even the Arab world. That being said, though the people around here are starting to get a little hefty on American McFood. Still, they are fit and fiddle compared to what you find in the west.
