I just cant help it. I need to comment on Pittstops response where he said- "you cant compare our prices to the US". My husband and I are from the US, and amazed at the sometimes 100% markups on ordinary items from the United States. This seems typical of the retailers mindset here. That their costs are less than the European markets prices. But as for me and the majority of the people that I know,(informed consumers)we find ourselves the best prices online, and have them shipped in, and still pay 50% to 100% less than the cost of goods here in Qatar. Or, as is often the case, I buy what I need when I visit the States. With global retailers so easily accessible via the internet, this mindset seems like a business model that is doomed to fail. Perhaps there are those that walk among us with money to burn and seeking instant gratification, but for the vast majority of this 80% expat population, I would bet that more competitive pricing would reap much greater rewards.
Cheers!
