I too use a DSLR, the iPhone is just to track the location and automatically tag the pics taken by DSLR. I agree that making full use of all the features may drain the battery soon, That is one more reason to go for factory unlocked phone instead of phones unlocked by other methods which drain the battery faster. I carry a car charger and so far have never run out of charge for the iPhone.
