I do have to agree about the lazy idiots posting questions that have been asked over and over, and the poster just can't be assed making the effort to seek out their own answers.

There seems to be a perception that QL has professional users who just sit all day long and write answers to questions like 'send me a list of companies' etc.

I have to say that QL is just the same as it always was. The level of rubbish peaks and troughs, but over time remains more or less the same. I don't have any reason to believe that the quality of the content is on an inevitable slide downhill.

The reason that some threads go on and on (and on and on) is that people find the interesting enough to comment on.
