DOHA, June 16, 2009 (AFP) - Qatar announced on Tuesday its first
swine flu cases after two toddlers arriving in the country were
diagnosed with the virus.
Health Minister Abdullah al-Qahtani said a two-year-old New
Zealand child developed symptoms of the virus two days after
arriving in Doha on Saturday from Austria with a stopover in Dubai.
He tested positive for influenza A(H1N1), and he along with his
family members were given medication, Qahtani was quoted by the
official QNA news agency as saying.
A two-and-a-half-year-old American-Bangladeshi boy transiting on
Sunday in Doha on a flight from New York to Bangladesh and showing
flu symptoms A(H1N1) was transferred to the airport's clinic after
which he was diagnosed with the flu, Qahtani added.
