Congratulations Zena - you win the prize! I have been visiting the pet shops looking for my cat and found this one who is obvioulsy someone's lost pet. I couldn't stand to see such a domesticated cat sitting in a small cage with no food or water, so I brought her home thinking that someone must be missing her, but still haven't heard anything.

To answer Newbie, I don't know where the cat was originally found, but I found her in the pet shop in the souk.

Sure with there was something we could do to get these pet shops to maintain some minimum standard of cleanliness and comfort for the animals. There were some persian kittens that looked pretty close to death. When I asked the guy if it was alive he just kicked the cage. Very depressing.
