I've made the mistake before of publicizing very interesting pre-historical sites on the Internet and very quickly they were destroyed by naive (but possibly well-intentioned) souvenir hunters and weekend road warriors.
Leave the carvings alone. People who actually want to see them and respect them should have to do some work to find out where they are and how to get to them.
I've heard of the second set of animal carvings too, but I think it is just a myth.
