miss saigon: It is never too late to go teaching as far as the desire to share takes place. However, be ready to abandon the capitalistic equation: Salary=amount of work, and be aware that the work you will need to deliver is enormous.

When I started teaching; dealing with just the ‘classroom management factor’ (keep an eye on everything going on in the class) was draining my energy at the end of the day. Other factors as lesson planning, dealing with parents, correcting students' work and so on take a hell of a time. But the enjoyment of it is that you still learn while teaching and you feel the happiness of your achievement years later, when a previous student comes to thank you for what you did for him or her.
I believe that you have given the best gift to your ex-teacher when showing your gratitude.
