"why are my kids little fatties?" asks the mother, as she buys a happy meal for her kid.

"I don't know", says the other mother, who enjoys the peace and quiet she gets each evening when she plonks her little porker in front of the tv for a few hours.

"I don't know whose fault it is, but it's not mine".

"I agree".

Obesity is a worldwide problem, that much is true. But, obesity is a bigger problem (no pun) in some cultures than it is on others.

Cultures which value parental discipline have lower rates of obesity. Cultures where children are all little princes and princesses breed fatties.
